Paris Hiltons jewellery legal battle

Thu, 03 Aug 2006

An internet auction site has had to stop the auction of jewellery previously owned by Paris Hilton because of the threat of legal action.

The lot consisted of 33 pieces including a tiara, a bra-chocker set and a ‘SEX’ pendent encrusted with crystals . The seller of the lot is only known as ‘chironclub’.

eBay had to stop the auction when the alleged righful owner came forward. David Hans Schmidt claims to own the items and has issued a letter through his attorney, James Bell urging the site to stop the sale.

According to Schmidt, he bought the jewellery as part of a larger collection that belonged to Paris Hilton for $2,775.

The items were initially sold when a container that housed the items along with clothing and furniture was seized after she refused to pay her monthly fee.

It is being said that Schmidt is in negotiations with several major US companies to trade the items for promotional services to be carried out by Ms Hilton.

The auction was to end on 7 August 2006 with a starting bid of $20.

The lot description by eBay reads, "Now up for sale is a huge collection of costume jewellery that previously belonged to...oh, yes! to a super-extra-hyper famous public personality and young lady - PARIS HILTON.
