Recycling jewellery

Wed, 17 Dec 2008

With the credit crunch hitting most people’s pockets, a company called Bloom and Co have come up with a cost-effective way of buying a new piece of jewellery .

The company, which launched throughout the UK in the autumn, is part of a large organisation that specialises in jewellery repairs and remodelling. By using their expertise, customers can repair a much-loved piece of jewellery, replace a missing diamond earring or resize an inherited ring .

The UK-wide service means that people do not have to look around for a local jeweller and worry about exact matching or authenticity of gems . Remodelling is not expensive, as most of the cost is in the gemstone and metal. Remodelling projects can start from as little as £200 with an end result that is unique and original.

Also, the value of the metal in a piece of jewellery can be traded in for the matching cost of a new gemstone and a different metal which, in effect, is a method of recycling jewellery that people do not like, or which does not suit them.
