Jewellery owners are being urged to get rid of their unwanted items and help homeless pets at the same time.
The RSPCA Birmingham Animal Centre asked families to go through their jewellery boxes and donate any unwanted items towards its latest appeal. These will then be recycled and turned into a donation. Any jewellery will be accepted, including odd earrings, snapped chains, broken watches, costume jewellery, gold and silver .
Items should be wrapped in tissue paper or bubble wrap, put into an envelope and posted, free of charge, to RSPCA Birmingham, Freepost, Central Recycling. They can also be handed into the Animal Centre at Barnes Hill or at shops which are acting as drop-off points.
Helen Tuite, Community Fundraising Manager for the charity's Birmingham Animal Centre, said: " Unwanted gifts are fabulous for raffle and tombola prizes, and raise hundreds of pounds for us.
Last year we had some wonderful items donated to us following our January appeal."
