Rings
Rings are ornamental jewellery and worn on the fingers.
A ring can be made from almost any material including wood, bone, stone, metal, glass, gemstone or plastic. They are often set with gemstones, semiprecious stones or glass.
Styles and designs of rings vary greatly from vintage and classic to more modern and contemporary.
There are many classifications of rings, too many to list here but some include the common ones we already known such as friendship rings, eternity rings, wedding and engagement rings, Claddagh ring, cocktail rings etc.
In times gone by, there were symbolic meanings associated to which finger a ring was worn. Some of these traditions still exist for example, the fourth finger of the left hand is known as the ring finger and is where an engagement and wedding rings are worn.
Signet rings are traditionally worn on the little finger or pinkie, as it is sometimes called.
Birthstone rings are usually worn on the first finger of the right hand.
