Diamond Jewellery
Diamonds, perhaps one of the most precious gemstones around, is synonymous with love and romance. If advertising is anything to go by a 'diamond is a girls best friend'.
Historically, the use of diamonds can be traced back to 3000 years ago in India. Diamond jewellery can be traced back to 1047 when it was used in the then Hungarian Queen's crown and the first ever diamond engagement ring was given to Mary of Burgundy in 1477.
With such a rich history, there are many reasons why diamond jewellery is so popular. Diamonds are very durable and hardwearing, it is the hardest known material that is naturally created.
The beauty of a diamond is down to the refraction of light and how it reflects internally as to how much of a shine it will have.
To enhance a diamonds brilliance, a diamond will be cut in a specific way which will maximise its brilliance.
Not all diamonds are the same. Some will be of higher values than others because of their colour and the number of inclusions among other things. To learn more about what to look for in a diamond click here.
